WHAT IT DOES
A connection, a pipeline
and a report.
Skuply is not a screen somebody on your team has to work in. It is a connection to your webshop, a pipeline running through it, and a report showing what changed.
What never happens: price, stock, lead time, MPN and warranty are neither read nor written.
THE PIPELINE
Seven steps, and after each one there are more fields.
01 CONNECT
An API key, the field inventory and the exclusion list.
02 READ IN
Titles, descriptions, photos, feeds and datasheets.
03 DERIVE
Per field a value, a source and a number.
04 WRITE
Into our own namespace, with a timestamp.
05 CHECK
Anything under 0.85 goes to the review list.
06 WRITE BACK
Mirrored to the field your theme displays.
07 KEEP UP
New SKUs complete within an hour.
Black is what was already there, blue was added at that step, red stayed under the threshold.
THE SOURCES
Every value points back to something
that was already there.
Datasheets
Manufacturer PDFs. The strongest source, with a reference to the page.
Supplier feeds
What you already receive. This is where GTIN and size come from.
Product photos
Image recognition for colour, shape and alt text. Scores lower, so it goes to the list more often.
Your own titles
There is often more in a title than in the fields below it.
Manufacturer databases
For matching barcodes. Matching only, never generating.
Standards and tables
EN standards, size charts and taxonomies to normalise towards.
The number says how direct the source is. A material stated literally in a datasheet scores high. The same material guessed from a product photo scores low, even when it is right.
THE MAPPING LAYER
Neatly filled and the filter still stays empty.
Every shop names its fields differently, and the difference is not cosmetic. In WooCommerce a global attribute is a taxonomy you can filter on, and a custom attribute is just text on the page. Fill the wrong one and the value is there while the filter stays empty.
ONE VALUE
full-grain leather
datasheet p.2 · 0.94
skuply.material
our namespace, with source and timestamp
pa_material
the taxonomy the filter runs on
_material_txt
the field your theme displays
Which fields these are exactly depends on your theme and plugins. We work that out on day one.
WHAT YOU GET BACK
Three things, every month.
A score
One number that climbs, with the denominator and the measurement date beside it.
A review list
Everything that stayed under the threshold, with source and proposal. Half an hour of work.
A report
One page you can forward to somebody who has no time.
